Default Ticketed for riding a four wheeler- trespassing and no registration on vehicle. Legal?

I was riding my four wheeler on private property, owned ** someone i know (i had permission). We approached the end of the woods, saw a housing development, and turned around.
Long story short, someone called the cops, and i ended up recieving two tickets; one for criminal trespassing, even though we were probably only over the line ** 10 feet (We didn't really know where we were going.. huge woods, and a second for not having registration on the atv.
This happened in North Royalton, Ohio. The officer said that they had just created a law about thirty days ago, stating that registration MUST be carried on the atv at ALL TIMES, even when on private property. Which i find rediculous.
A. if this is a new law, it's rather unfortunate that i didn't know about it.
B. The ATV is registered with the state, it has a title, but i have never heard about needing registration on PRIVATE PROPERTY.

Is there any way i can get out of this? I'm 17, i have to go to juvenille court on the ninth.
