as the two people above me have already stated,its YOUR responsibility to keep up with new laws etc.
you have already admitted in a public forum to being guilty,so when you go to court,plead "guilty with an explantion",and if the judge accepts that plea,explain what happened,he/she may or may not cut you a break,but its worth a shot. I will tell you this though,ANY hint of a poor attitude towards the court,WILL get you maximum fines.
