Its just like Biker for Life said, go to your local dealerships and sit on as many as you can. Try to narrow your search to a few models before talking to a salesman. Despite their best efforts to "help" they are there to sell you a bike.
Most important is the ability to reach the ground with both feet and to be able to sit/ride comfortably.
As far as which is the "best" goes, that is up to you. It has to fit your vision of the perfect bike at the right price.
