Honda 400EX ATV?

ALRIGHT... soo i tryed starting up my HONDA 400EX atv yesterday, the ignition light went on but it wouldnt start... so i charged it up and this morning i went to go start it up and its kinda worked.. i heard this sound that sounded kinda like a tazer... so i then cleaned the connections to the positve and negative and am right now charging it again. anyone tell me what the hell is going on? why wasn't it turning on.... it wasnt he right sound that the ignition is suppost to make. and giving it gas did NOTHING. is it shot or do you think charging it after cleaning the connections might work.... thanks for your time
