Default How can i find out if an ATV I bought is stolen?

I purchased a broken 4 wheeler and the owner said he lost the title and we would apply for a new one. Well ** the time I got the bike fixed and dumped a bunch of money into it the original owner disappeared. Now I want to get my 4 wheeler legal but if it comes up stolen they will take it and I will be out all kinds of money. So is there a way to check without going to the cops?

Not.. really.. if the ATV is stolen an ** going to the vendor's website such as Honda.com /Kawasaki.com

an you try an register a stolen ATV to the manufacturer.

they will notify the cops if the thing is stolen..

***what you can do***

the noble thing to do is notify the cops yourself.. tell them you purchased it, an the whole story about how you obtained it.. tell them it was dumb move but it was for a cheap buy..

Which I'm no cop, but a person who stole something wouldn't call a cop an ask them they're self.. If it is stolen they might make you return it an you get no refund.. they might make you file a report, an which you
*** might get harassed ***
** the person who had it stolen(if it was), but hey least they got it back, an you fixed it up for them!

So its risky, either way you look at it.. good luck with that..

Why would you buy a vehicle with no title? Cross your fingers and go to the DMV.
