Why isn't my ATV starting?

I first smelled gas and found out that my gas filter was leaking.I think I turn my fuel switch/lever to the wrong settting.I took it out and started it for about 3 minutes and i turned it off.I tryed to restart but it would not restart, it seemed like the battery was getting weak after so many trys.I recharged the battery fully,but it still will not start.Is it flooded,if so ,how do i unflood it? What could be wrong with it.It turns over like it wants to start but it does not.It only has 43 miles on it.
