Default Carburetor on four wheeler question please.?

I am trying to learn (yep I'm a woman) to do maintenance on my own wheeler, '03 Yamaha Kodiack, have changed oil, spark plug, added fluids etc., spark plug was full of carbon, and barely a yr. old, dealer said to change the jet or put in a new kit, I found the carb. but cannot figure out how to get the thing out, screwdriver will not let me get to the four little screws on the bottom, maybe I need to remove the gas tank or take off the larger tubes going into the side of it, I think it seperates and you take off the bottom half but might be wrong, can someone please give me some advice?

why don't you use a carb cleaner additive instead and also, you said you just change the plugs have you adjusted the plugs gap so that you will get the maximum spark for best combustion and thus lessening your carbon deposit. the jet has been free factory set and it would do you no good to tamper with it for it will just make your engine use up more gas.

You're right you will have to remove the tank and hoses to get to the float bowl screws......but jetting a carb is no easy task you should definitely know what you're doing first....Take your time in researching this as you could do major damage to your cylinder if you run the motor to lean or to rich. Hope this helps.

before you even begin to take off a carbuerator you should know exactly how it works. And you should know how to adjust one.
Dont listen to a dealer about anything mechanical,,,,they are all a bunch of dummies. They only sell them. I could get a monkey to sell things if only I could teach it english.
There are a lot of reasons why you will find carbon on a spark plug. And until you have gotten a clear knowledge of things I would advise you leave tings as they are. Keep the air filter clean nad clean the plugs once and awhile for now.
