atv starter?

i have a 85 yamaha reverse 200 ( yfm200) and when i press the electrical starter i just hear the sound of the starter going but no motor starting. the battery is charged and connected correctly

the starter gear in probably not engaging the flywheel gear.... you need to remove the starter and clean and lube the shaft that the starter gear slides on. once that is done apply power to the starter and exercise it before you reinstall it ...you should see it moving in and out along the shaft...
