Default My 97 basnshee atv clutch will not engage?

i have a 97 banshee 350 the clutch cable snapped so i had to purchase a new one i just installed it...it start up perfectly and idles smooth...i pull the clutch in and shift into 1st it immediatly jumps foward and stalls out....there is a piece below the carb that u connect the clutch cable to and i thought maybe the clutch was lookse and not pulling it hard enough tightened the clutch same problem....i even held that little peace all the way foward in place (which would generally mean the clutch is engaged) and still have the same problem...some one please help...its driving me crazy

Had this same problem. Havent fixed it yet but look at the pointer on your shift rod on the engine. Looks like it may be hitting the case. Try bending it just a little to clear it. I haven't gone into my gearcase to figure out the problem but I did bend that tab and it is working now for me. If yours is set up like this. Mine is ** no means stock.

Sometime the clutch cable in middle of cable have adjustment. you need to readjust the cable. when you hook up new cable, Turn the adjuster all the way in on the clutch perch.( handle bar) Then at the middle cable. Turn the two piece ( like bolt and nut) out till the clutch lever start feel tight. Let the lever have about 1/8 of free play then use jam nut to tight up. To prevent the middle will turned and will make either loose or tight, Let me know if there is other problem.
