Default need help atv wont start?

i have a 96 honda 200 fourtrax and i have noticed problems that occurred yesterday as i was driving all the sudden the engine shut off after a few minutes i restarted it. i would have to keep the throttle slightly open to keep it from dying. well i drove it at a reasonable speed to get to my house, as i was driving it the engine was making a weird indescribable sound from somewhere in the engine area, when i returned home i checked the oil, there was some oil about a few centimeters above the add line, i wondered if the engine was burning oil because i took it to redline powersports for sprocket repairs and they gave me an oil change, so the next day i went and bought some oil, changed it, and tried to start it up, the engine would start for barely a second then went dead, i tried again and the engine would not start at all, i checked the plug(had an orange spark) checked the filter, and checked for compression, but can anyone give me any ideas on why my engine stopped running?
