I'm looking to buy an ATV and want advice.?

Primary use will be trail riding and hunting. I will also occasionally take the kids for a ride around the block and maybe go to some sand dunes.

I'm looking for something that has low maintainance and historically very few problems. I don't have a lot to drop into a machine (about $3000) so I am looking for a used machine.

Any body know what I should be looking for?
