how do i repair the fan on my 2003 honda rancher atv?

The fan on my 2003 honda rancher ATV does not come on. (it is to run if and when the engine gets hot). I was told it could be a thermostat but i can't find it? any suggestions on where the thermostat is? or other ideas on what else it could be and how to fix it?
