sounds like something funky going on in your starter.
you can try push starting it although it seems like that would be hard on an ATV.
if you're not familiar with push starting its when you get the vehicle rolling while in neutral and then you pull it into gear (preferably first gear) while in motion. this causes the flywheel to roll which causes spark which causes starting goodness.
going down a hill is usually best for push starts but if it doesn't start then you're stuck pushing it back up.
or you can hook it to a car or truck and have it pull you.
of course the best thing to do is just get the starter fixed.
