If you use common sense while operating one, not dangerous at all. Me and my husband love to go off-roading and 4 wheeling. Just be sure to wear any protective equipment you feel is necessary!

ATVs are not dangerous unless operated ** an inexperienced, intoxicated or dangerous person. You might be thinking of ATCs (all-terrain cycles) which have 3 wheels instead of 4. Those actually ARE kinda dangerous, and they don't make them anymore. Stay away from them.

My friends and I rented 4 of them and had no training of anysort. The company just dropped them off to us in the desert with helmets and gloves. In hindsight, everytime I got hurt was directly related to me doing something stupid and irresponsible. I rolled it/hurt myself 3 times in 2 days. I didn't get a bruise or anything but, had I not been an idiot I would have never rolled it or experienced any pain.

I dont think they are dangerous. I have two quads and 3 motorcycles. I think it depends on the rider. My son hates the 4 wheelers. He likes the motorcycles better, says he has more control. I like the 4 wheels better because I dont have to be haulin butt all the time, I can sit and relax if I want.
