My 1988 suzuki katana wont start? help pls?

i drove the bike last week its started pretty fine! then two days ago i start it and it started i rev the engine up to 7 x 1000 rpms then i went out today i tried to start it and it wont start.. then engine is turning but it wont just freaking start.. so i put he choke on and put some gas in it while starting it... am i in the right path of trouble shooting it?? if not what should i do?? thanks for your help.
