need help picking out a streetbike :)?

ok so im buying a streetbike for the summer but have pretty much no clue what kind to buy..honda,yamaha,kawasaki..etc...im a new rider so i dont need anything crazy..just somethin thatll look & run good w/o being overly expensive..ill save that for when im more experienced!..im 5'6 130 lbs..would u say i should buy a 600?..i heard if u buy a 250 youll just blow off the highway..lol..help please
