Default Riding Motorcycles?

I am totally clueless when it comes to motorcycles. But as I understand it they get really good gas mileage. With the gas crisis in full swing, would it be a good idea to invest in a motorcycle (and licence)? Also, when riding a motorcycle do you have to switch gears or do you just put down the throttle and goes? (I guess what I am asking for is a comparison to a manual vs automatic transmition on a car.)

I would sggest going to a dealership and talking to some riders, Salesmen will just try to push a sale. if you are totally clueless I wouldn't reccomend a bike toyou because of the danger factor. My Vulcan gets a mere 30 mpg. and you cant really haul anything. As for transmission they are manuals. for an Auto you would need a scooter.

i think you might learn how to ride first not knowing what happens with bike and cars is the worse.. but yes they get good mileage and you can find a automatic like a scooter cheaper and a bit like riding a bike
