What sport bike should I get for a first time rider?

Hi, I am 18 in college. 5'9" 116lbs and interested in get a sport bike. I just got my permit and I'm going to get my license soon. I've NEVER ridden before and I was wondering what I should get. My brother never rode before and started on a Ninja 500r used. He told me it's a great first time bike but you get bored of it after 2 weeks. I went to the Honda dealership where my bro bought his bike and they recommended the Yamaha R6s. i sat on it and it felt right but i think that bike maybe a little too much for me. What do you guys think? Would it be possible for me to handle a 600cc bike?
