Default 1988 sportster brake switch stuck on?

a kid hit me in a parking lot, the bike fell on its rear brake pedal and now the brake light stays on, not dim/bright as it should be.

the kid ran away in his jeep and im left to fix it myself. where is the switch so i could replace it? is it behind the sprocket cover? or inside the master cylinder? is it hydralically controlled or ** levers with the pedal itself, help me out please. i would buy a manual but im short on cash, only enough for the parts right now

my indy assumed a wire rubbed through under the fender and shorted it on, but thats not the case. I already checked
