Why would my 4 wheel drive stay on once disenguaged?

I have a Kawasaki 360 Prarie 4x4, and I went riding today like always and used my 4 wheel drive and went to disenguage it after use and the 4x4 light started flashing and it wont go back into 2 wheel drive. What could be the problem ?
