Why do motorcycle riders ride long distance?

With the price of gas so high, it doesn’t really make sense. I usually fly on Southwest or drive my hybrid since it is so much cheaper. I have own a Harly and I rarely ride it a long distance anyway since most of the biker clubs, Halry Davison apparel stores are within a 4 mile distance of my condo. Riding beyond these distances doesn’t really make sense.
