What's the best starter sport bike? Price/performance/handling? ?

I'm 17 year old. Ive been riding atvs/dirt bikes for about 3 years now. I also race roadbikes.. (Tour de france type things as an example) Ive riddin around on a V-Rod before.. And now I think its time to get a bike of my own.. I want the best bike for the price and best for me as a 17 year old.. I'm 5,11 and about 160lbs. I'm well built. I was thinking about a Suzuki gs500
Well, I'd get a 250.. But i ride a trx700xx. What's the point of buying something i'd use for 2-3 weeks and get bored off?

Means nothing. You still need to gain experience riding before moving on to something big and powerful.

Not a bad choice but little bit too powerful for new rider. Think more in the 250 cc class (like the Ninja 250cc). Even though it is 250cc class, it can go 110 mph and it is ** no means a weak bike. No other 250cc bike can go that fast (not even nearly).

So it can keep up with larger bikes, yet light enough for beginners to easily handle.

That's a great starter bike and a great bike for the price. I was going to get one but wound up getting a cruiser instead.

I'm 15 and ride a honda cbr1000rr and I topped out at 215 and that was fast enough.
