Motorcycle Keys? Why no microchip?

Most cars beginning in the new millenium fit their keys with microchips that prevent the ignition from being started if a duplicate key is simply made without the proper programming from the dealer.

From what I have seen, most motorcycles are not like this. Lo-Jack is definitely a good way to recover a stolen bike, but I like to prevent the harm before it occurs. My school is not in a very good area and I plan to ride daily and I have night classes, so I would like other suggestions also to prevent bike theft before I buy one.

What SPORT bikes usually have programmed keys?
