how to lower my 1200 bandit using dogbones ?

how to lower my 1200 bandit using dogbones ?

i've had seat lowered and have bought dogbones but they are bigger (longer)than the ones on bike at the moment so how does that work is it the longer the dogbone the lower the bike will be so confused help!
