comments on ninja 250?

i love the ninja 250!! new and old. 55-70 mpg, easy on tires, cheaper insurance. all that sounds nice but i live in buffalo ny and as many people know, a 55mph speed limit is more like 70-75. will the 250 handle this? its only for about a 10 mile max at one shot. I'm a college student and want to get a bike. i like the sv650s but i can get a ninja 250 cheaper and easier. should i get one, learn to ride, get the great mpg and then sell and upgrade later? ill be using to get from my college to my girlfriends and to work along with some small errands. i ride mostly city except for the ocasional highway hop.
