Alright, I just bought from a friend an old Yamaha riva cv80, scooter I think. Don't quite know if there's a difference between a moped or scooter. Anyways I live in New Hampshire, and I'm having trouble looking for guidelines on the NH DMV website . I'm curious about NH moped/scooter laws. Mostly: Do I have a moped, or scooter? ? Do I need a license? If so, what kind?

It almost always goes ** the size of the engine, in cc's. Usually 50 cc's is the line between needing a moto license and just a regular driver's license.
Since I am guessing your's is an 80 cc, you may (probably)need a license. The good news is that a motorcycle permit is a lot better than a car permit. You will have to check with your NH DMV to be sure but you're probably going to have to take a written test to get your permit. If you go to the DMV they should give you a booklet, study the booklet, get your permit. To get your full moto license, you will have to take a driving test with the DMV or take a MSF course. |
