Default Why the loud pipes, motorcyclists?

I hate the sound of loud engines like lawn mowers and motorcycles. They are unnatural and annoying. I have provided a questionnaire. Feel free to answer.
I made my bike exhaust louder than a jet engine because;
I'm a moron and I wanted everyone to know.
I have problems with society and I want to make them pay.
I am insecure and must project myself as a nasty person.
My life ****s, so I want to ruin everyone elses quality of life.
I'm a mental midget and I just like annoying other people.
I'm a full grown man and I should be able to do what ever I want no matter how much it lowers the quality of life for many thousands of other people.
Oh, and just in case you were thinking of resurrecting that silly rationalization the loud pipes save lives, forget it. Loud pipes face the rear of the bike, so the poor saps who must endure your loudness already see you. People coming at you do not hear you, but they should see you.
Sorry for being a creep. But I'm only referring to the ones with the extremely loud pipes, not the Harley riders with the rumble. I know there are lots of motorcyclistists out there that are great people. And there is such as thing as a quiet motorcycle.

Am I the only one who agrees with you? I bought a used bike a couple of years ago. The owner had replaced the mufflers with loud pipes. He acted as if they were a selling point. I bought the bike on the condition that he put back the original mufflers.

P.S., You certainly are correct about loud pipes making noise behind you but not in front of you. They do virtually nothing to make you more "visible" to people who might run into you.

My bike is bone stock and has never had the exhaust modified in any way. And it is loud!Sorry, but I didn't build the damned thing; I just ride it. I wear earplugs under my helmet and I don't rev my engine in town. What else can I do?

And loud pipes do not save lives. I have people pull in front of me all the time.

I have a loud bike, because to muffle the sound would require the length of exhaust of a car, which would stick out roughly 5 feet behind my motorcycle, and cause an unsafe condition to other motorists.

I don't actually own a motorcycle, but that's just common sense. It's a short vehicle. It requires a short exhaust, which means, not as much sound will be dampened.

That's just how it goes.
