Default Is a 250cc engine strong enough for me?

I am wanting to get a dual-purpose motorcycle for commuting to work. I am fairly new to the world of motorcycles and don't know too much about engine size vs. performance. Nearly all the bikes I have found are 250's and my question is this: Would a late 80's early 90's 250cc engine be strong enough to take a 6'2" 270 lb man on the freeway, speeds of about 65? I don't have a specific bike in mind, but I don't want to search if the engine can't get me to work. Thanks

Buddy a bike with a 250 cc motor is not rated to carry that weight , let alone get you up to 65mph unless it`s down hill. The smallest I would go for on the highway would be a 450. Personally I don`t plan on spending a lot of time getting up to 65 and will not go on the highway with anything less than 750 , but that's just me. The newer bikes , mid to late nineties ( in the 250 cc range )are a bit better, but most of them are crotch rockets and would not be that comfortable for you
