Default how to check a dead motorbike engine?

I have a Yahama motorbike which was given to me but did not have any keys nor a battery. I was going to try and get this running (as a little project),

I'm trying not to spend all that much if possible, but need to try and find out some how if the engine will turn over. Is there any way to find out if the engine turns over without buying anything?
