Is this a steal? Ninja 650R

Hi, I was thinking about getting this 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 650R from a friend, and wanted some opinions on whether its a good deal or not. He wants $3000 for it. Its got 750 miles. It was wrecked once (skidded, no impact) and dropped another time, but there's only cosmetic damage. It has two dents on the gas tank (one on each side), the left side of the plastic front frame is loose and scratched, the rear brake pedal is bent in, the gear shift pedal is bent in and down, and there's some other fairly minor scratches on the body. It seems to run fine, and he assures me it does. I'm new to motorcycles, btw, and people seem to think this would be a good learner bike. What do you think?
