Default New Ducati Multistrada 1100 Covers 3,800 Miles In 51 Hours

NEW DUCATI MULTISTRADA 1100 COVERS 3,800 MILES IN 51 HOURS

Long distance riding phenomenon Gary Eagan puts the new Multistrada 1100 through a coast to coast torture test

Cupertino, CA (September 19, 2006) – On Monday, September 11th, Gary Eagan left Vancouver, British Columbia on the first 2007 Ducati Multistrada 1100 S to grace North American pavement. 51 hours and 4 minutes later, he was on the opposite coast of Canada in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The shortest confirmed trans-Canadian run is 59 hours. “I would like to thank my sponsors, Ducati North America and Avon Tires, for making my 51 hour trek possible,” said Gary. “The ride was quite a physical push on my body, but I was happy with the times posted, and the bike did not miss a beat.”

Aside from the normal challenges of a long distance ride, the trans-Canadian crossing provided some unexpected hitches. These included being a little too close to the point of impact from a near** tractor-trailer wildlife incident (which resulted in the rider getting covered with moose remains) and severe burns from a heated glove malfunction. In addition, Gary lost his wallet in Montreal. Eagan is now relaxing in a Halifax hotel room provided ** Ducati North America with 8 dollars in cash and his passport.

The 2007 Multistrada 1100 and 1100 S have increased power and torque while maintaining the same weight and general riding characteristics of the previous Multistrada models. According to Gary, he "rode the snot out of the bike and it performed exceptionally. They asked me to test a new bike and I'll tell you, the bike held up a hell of a lot better than me."

Founded in 1926, Ducati builds racing-inspired motorcycles characterized ** unique engine features, innovative design, advanced engineering and overall technical excellence. The Company produces motorcycles in six market segments which vary in their technical and design features and intended customers: Superbike, Supersport, Monster, Sport Touring, Multistrada and the new SportClassic. The Company’s motorcycles are sold in more than 60 countries worldwide, with a primary focus in the Western European, Japan and North American markets. Ducati has won thirteen of the last fifteen World Superbike Championship titles and more individual victories than the competition put together.
