Default I got a ticket over the weekend while jet skiing..?

First off, this was my first time on one in awhile. I was coming in to dock, and everyone was waving for me to head back out because they were going to join me, so I turned to head back out and honestly did not mean to gun it, but it did, and let off as soon as I realized what I had done. I continued riding until I saw the DNR officer on shore waving me in. He said that I was in the 100' violation, and that I intentially was trying to splash my friends. Where I was turning around, was not deep at all and I could see the bottom, so I wasn't going too fast. So I have two things on the ticket, the 100' violation and then reckless driving.
I feel like I should have only recieved a warning seeing how I was a newbie to jet skiing and have already taken a boating class, and I also explained that I did not splash on purpose.
I go to court tomorrow. What do I do???
Why should I not try to plead not-guilty? Does it make matters worse if they disagree?

Why add court costs to the fine you will be getting? You have admitted you did what you got the tickets for. "I didn't mean to" will not get you any sympathy in court. Having taken a boating class proves you should have known.

Yeah. I got a ticket when I had just turned 16 for going 65 in a 45 zone. I didn't mean to and I thought I should get a break since I was a newbie to this driving stuff.

Some people just don't cut breaks.

(tongue in cheek)

"I go to court tomorrow. What do I do???" - You can pay your fine or try to convince the judge he should let you off because you did not know what you were doing (I would not use that approach).
