Can you rent jet skis in nyc?

I heard something about it but it just didn't sound right. I wouldn't think that people would be allowed to drive those things in the East of Hudson River never mind how that water is. Anyone have any info on this?

I have not seen Jet ski rentals in NYC. I dont think rentals are allowed because you need to take a class to ride one.
