I own one and use a lot. I bought mine used for around $2500, but you can spend less or far more. they are still around and quiet popular! They are easy to use and quite fun. I have other boats, so for me I use now and again - especially when it is hot out! Upkeep can be model dependent and depends on how much you use. This year I have not used mine as much as I have in the past for no particular reason. The biggest expense is fuel. Mine holds 13 gallons of gas and burns anywhere from 2-4 gallons per hour depending on how fast I am going. I also have to but special oil for mine (which is a 2-stroke) that is about $100 a case, but 1 case could last you all season. But, to put it simply, most these days are 4-cycle and they will not consume as much oil. If you have any more questions feel free to let me know!

ive got one. mine cost me AU$12,000 but you can get them cheaper.
it costs me about 7 to 10 dollars to fill the tank and it lasts a weekend or two sometimes more.
i havent had to have it serviced yet but the say you should at 50 hours and 100 hours and so on.
i use it at the beach where i live - in a bay. sometimes i take it to the river.
oh and a service can range between 100 and 200 bucks
they are good fun and you can pick up second hand ones fairly cheep.

In Australia we do. South Stradebroke Island, Gold Coast have them. $50 for 15 minutes, $9 for 30 minutes and $240 for an hour and a half.
