Future of Snowmobiling?

I have two major questions to anyone who snowmobiles or is involved in the snowmobiling industry:

1.) With the recent fuel shortages, is electric power or alternate fuels the future of snowmobiling?

2.) Upstate New York and parts of Canada have recently experienced a multiple consecutive bad seasons which have hurt the snowmobile market. Do you think in-door facilities and/or artificial snow (or perhaps even a snow substitute) can extend the current snowmobile season and revive the industry?
