Default I was in a snowmobiling accident 21 days ago.Ive got a hard bump beside my shin bone.doc said not to worry..?

I was severely bruised after the accident, but thought the pain would just go away eventually. After 12 days, it became even worse and moved down to my right ankle. It was really swollen and I could barely walk. So, I went to the doctor and he put a half cast on for one week..told me I would be better afterwards. It is now 10 days later and it is as black and swolen as ever and I can't put any weight on it. Also, I have a big hard and semi painful bump to the left side of my shin bone on my right leg that has been there since the accident on december 26th. doc said it was a blood clot but nothing that I should be worried about and that it won't travel. I can't help but to be worried. X-rays were taken and there are no breaks in my leg or ankle. Any suggestions?? (I have been on crutches and keeping my weight off my leg for 10 days now...but it's not getting any better)

I might insist on going to an ortho doctor, just for a second opinion

I'm no doctor, but a lump can sometimes develop after an injury like that, and it's called a bone contusion. I would put my chips on that rather than a blood clot, because clots won't usually hurt like that. I think your doctor needs to re-examine, and if he still thinks thats what it is, find a new doctor because he needs a lobotomy.

If it is a contusion, its going to be hard and uncomfortable, but will most likely go away. I've had several from assorted lacrosse injuries and they all went away. I would only worry if it kept bothering your after another couple weeks.

GET A 2ND OPINION!! Trust what you are thinking...it's your bump and your leg and your blood clot. Blood clots can be a huge deal...maybe he knows what he's talking about but even if that's true he's got really poor doctor social skills if he leaves you wondering what in the heck is going on! Get another doctor...or a least call this one back and get some answers that make sense to you..maybe ask him for a referral...that will get his attention..good luck ?

If you need piece of mind ...get another x-ray. Fractures can be missed.

you may also have a bleeding disorder.

Its likely you will be ok...and if its just the old would..you should see a sick yellowing color....if it looks fresh..then maybe its new bleeding.

Foot up. Pressure bandage like and ace bandage, ice, and rest.

I'd trust your docter, if he "Knows His Stuff" he's most likely correct! Eventually it will get better. Try asking your docter.
