I drained the gas(because it has been sitting for 5 years), refilled it, took the plugs out and sparked them(they sparked very well) then I tried starting it up and after a little while I got the gas through the line and got it going for a minute and then I stopped it and when I tried starting it again after I had pulled it out of the garage I couldn't get any spark! I tried filing down the points but I still couldn't get any spark. I am positive the coils are good. Any help would be apprieciated!!!

how are you positive the coils are good? if this is a n older system, it will also also have a capacitor, and its very possible to have dropped out. but jd some run the rectifier also on the firing side, besides the voltage reg. if it has hand warmers, unhook them. if they are the external grip type. sometimes they short out intermittantly with age. if moving them around it is possible to be shorting the electric system out. there are many forums as snowriders, that will help you with detailed info. also throw in another plug, and make sure the plug wire has not pulled loose from the coil.
