1968-70 ski-doo...?

There's an old ski-doo for sale that i came across, the man had 1970 on it but I think it's older than that. Has a fairly new track, the hood is intact, and barely any rust. The guys said the person he bought it from said it ran. Turns over but the recoil is messed up. He's willing to sell it to me for $100. Is this a reasonable deal?

It would be a birthday present for my boyfriend. he used to have an old bubble nose like this one but had to sell it for money.
or would a silver bullet at the same price be a better idea...not in as good condition...
