How can I tell what size snowmobile is for me?

I am looking to buy a snowmobile but I do no know how to dertermine what size would be best for me. I am a beginner and don't know that much about sleds yet. i have riden my friend's Artic Cat Jag 440 and he said that I seemd to be able to handle that pretty well. Wuld that mean that most likely a sled between a 400 and 500 would be good for me? Are there any other tips or tricks on how to pick a sled? Thanks.
