You can travel from Paradise, California to Lake Tahoe ** snowmobile during the winter. Very long drive on snowed over dirt roads. Going to give it a go myself someday.

Assuming you are in the UK try Iceland, Northern Sweden or Finland. Been snowmobiling in all 3 with great results. In Finland you can also go dog sledging driving your own dog team (in Sweden they drive, you sit on sledge). For something really weird and different try Iceland, 3 hours from LHR or Stansted. You can visit the Blue Lagoon and swim outdoors in the outflow of a geothermal power station while surrounded ** snow! Also do the Golden Circle trip to see geysers, waterfalls, bubbling mud etc. All 3 countries are expensive, Iceland is VERY expensive but my favourite, been there 5 times! P.S. Iceland has the best hot dogs of anywhere, something to do with the crispy onions!
